 IEDPU to pay NECO fees of 345 indigent candidates

Arrangements have been concluded by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) to present  cheques for NECO registration fees of three hundred and forty five (345) secondary school students across the 69 political wards of the Ilorin Emirate on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Union's National Secretariat, Geri Alimi, Ilorin.

This was disclosed by the National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, while featuring on "Oro To Nlo" a current affairs programme of UNILORIN 89.3 FM. The programme was anchored by the General Manager of the Station, Mr Idris Akintola Ibrahim (Alooma).


Alhaji Abdulmalik, who spoke through the Union's immediate past National Secretary, Mallam Abubakar Imam, explained that the scheme is being organised by the Union in conjunction with the Oluwole Educational Foundation powered by the Chairman of Tuyil Pharmaceuticals Industry, Ilorin, Apostle Oluwole Awotuyi.

He added that five beneficiaries have been selected from each of the wards as he said that each of the candidates is also to be supported with a token for their transportation to their examinations venues.


Alhaji Abdulmalik explained that the event would be presided-over by the Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Muhammad-Lawal Olohungbebe as it would also be witnessed by other dignitaries.


The President, who encouraged other well-to-do indigenes and residents of Ilorin Emirate to offer similar support for the benefit of the indigent students, also enjoined the beneficiaries, their parents and school principals as well as other well-wishers to attend the event punctually.
