In a statement issued by the University's Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun,  the Vice Chancellor described Elder Ayanda's death as a great loss to the Ayanda family of Isanlu-Isin, and the journalism profession.

While commiserating with the family and especially one of the sons of the deceased, Tayo, the Vice Chancellor urged them to take solace in the fact that their late patriarch led a life of purpose devoted to the service of God and humanity, adding that the late veteran journalist left a great legacy, including level-headed children who are also already making their contributions to nation building efforts in their various professional callings.

Prof. Egbewole prayed God to grant the soul of late Elder Ayanda a peaceful repose, and the family he left behind, the fortitude to bear the great loss.
