Embrace the Power of Resurrection:Rev Fr Osbert Egbe Urges Christians

By Idris Alooma

Rev. Fr. Osbert Egbe of Holy Family Catholic Church Gaa-Akanbi Ilorin has called on Christians to live in the fullness of Christ’s resurrection, emphasizing that the victory of Easter must reflect in their daily lives.

Delivering his homily during the Easter mass at the church today, Fr. Osbert drew profound lessons from John 20:1–9, which recounts the discovery of the empty tomb and the dawning faith of the disciples in the risen Lord.

Fr. Osbert highlighted the significance of the resurrection as the foundation of Christian hope and faith. He explained that the apostles’ encounter with the empty tomb was not merely a moment of confusion, but the beginning of a deeper understanding of God’s redemptive plan. According to him, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a powerful reminder that light will always overcome darkness, and life will ultimately triumph over death.

The Priest urged all faithfuls to embrace the transforming power of the resurrection by living lives marked by righteousness, love, and unwavering faith. He prayed that the glorious resurrection of Christ would not be in vain in the lives of believers but would instead inspire renewed commitment to God and a stronger dedication to serving humanity.

Fr. Osbert also used the occasion to call for prayers for Nigeria, stressing the urgent need for peace, unity, and stability in the country. He noted that at a critical time such as this, citizens must turn to God for divine intervention, while also committing themselves to being agents of peace in their communities.

He urged Christians to carry the message of Easter beyond the church walls, reminding them that the risen Christ calls all believers to be bearers of hope in a troubled world. The Easter celebration, he said, should not only be a commemoration but a renewed call to live victoriously in Christ and to contribute meaningfully to the growth and peace of society.
