Tinubu@74: Saliu Mustapha hails democratic pillar driving Nigeria’s global rise
By Idris Alooma
Kwara Central Senator, Saliu Mustapha, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his 74th birthday, describing him as a formidable pillar of Nigeria’s democracy and a leader whose influence continues to shape the nation’s political and economic trajectory.
In a personally signed statement issued to journalists at the weekend, Senator Mustapha commended the President’s leadership in nearly three years, asserting that his administration has driven transformative change across key sectors of the country’s economy.
He noted that President Tinubu’s governance style reflects resilience, vision, and a firm commitment to national development amid both domestic challenges and shifting global dynamics.
Underscoring Nigeria’s growing international profile, the senator who is the Turaki of Ilorin described the President’s recent engagement in the United Kingdom at the invitation of King Charles III as a defining diplomatic milestone.
According to him, the visit not only reinforced historical ties but also positioned Nigeria as a credible partner in global trade and investment, unlocking commitments estimated at $1.51 billion and paving the way for job creation and economic expansion.
At the national level, the lawmaker pointed to key reforms under the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” including the unification of foreign exchange rates to enhance transparency, a steady rise in external reserves, and ongoing investments in critical infrastructure such as roads, rail networks, air and port modernization, arguing that these measures have improved macroeconomic stability and laid the groundwork for sustainable development.
The senator while further praising social and economic initiatives of the President aimed at broadening opportunities for citizens, cited the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a significant step toward expanding access to higher education, while noting that targeted interventions in agriculture particularly through the National Agricultural Development Fund are strengthening food security and rural livelihoods.
Senator Mustapha therefore prayed for continued wisdom, strength, and good health for President Tinubu as he steers the country through complex economic and political terrain toward long-term prosperity.
He urged Nigerians to remain supportive of the administration and to align with its vision for national renewal, stressing that collective effort and political stability are crucial to building a country that commands respect both at home and in the international community.
