Beneficiaries of Opeyemi Mega Eye Centre's free eye screening and surgery programme have expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the initiative. The programme, held at No. 48 Sabo Line, Isale Amilengbe Area, Ilorin, screened over 750 people in two days, with 70 individuals scheduled for surgery. The event, organized in loving memory of Alhaji Ibrahim Àlàzí Taoheed and Alhaja Maimunah Ayinke Taoheed, aims to address common eye issues like cataracts and glaucoma.
The CMD of Opeyemi Mega Eye Centre, Dr. Taoheed Ayodeji Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of seeking professional help and warned against self-medication. He said the programme was sponsored by all his late parents' children and family.
The programme attracted people from various locations, including Kwara, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Kogi, Lagos, and Abuja, who praised Dr. Abdullahi and his family's philanthropic efforts and the centre's service quality.
Beneficiaries, including Alhaji Isiaka Idiagbon, 65, from Ilorin, Mrs. Gbonjubola Aduke Ogunnimo, 85, from Ijeda, Osun State, Alhaja Abdulquadri Saadat from Ojagbooro Ilorin, Mrs. Adebayo Mariam from Ote, Kwara State, and Mr. Sunday Olaitan from Lagos, expressed their gratitude. Alhaji Isiaka Idiagbon says, "I'm grateful for this opportunity." Mrs. Gbonjubola Aduke Ogunnimo adds, "God bless Dr. Taoheed." Alhaja Abdulquadri Saadat says, "Thanks for this kindness," while Mrs. Adebayo Mariam describes it as, "This is truly a blessing and Ramadan gift, may Allah reward him."
This effort is part of Glaucoma Sensitization and Awareness Week, demonstrating the centre's commitment to giving back to the community. The time for the surgeries will be communicated to those involved at a later date. Over 10,000 have benefited from the exercise since they started it six years ago.
