 At AA Ramadan Lecture, Scholars, Politicians Warn APC Leadership Against Betraying Governor AbdulRazaq

Prominent Muslim scholars and notable politicians on Thursday cautioned the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress( APC) across ward, local government and the state working committee in Kwara State against betraying Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.


The speakers include the Imam Ipata Oloje, Sheikh AbdulKadir Almustapha Alahanpe, the zonal missioner of NASFAT, Alh Abdullahi Alaya; two prominent grassroots politicians, Alh Usman Bibire Ajape and Hon. AbdulLateef Gidado Alakawa.

They spoke at AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Ramadan Lecture Series, held at the A.G.F AbdulRazaq family residence, Surulere, Ilorin. The lecture has ” Which Allah’s Favour Will You Deny” as its theme.

The speakers took turns to remind those recently affirmed as the APC executives across the wards, local governments and the state working committee of the need for them to reciprocate the governor’s magnanimity .

The first lecturer, Alh Abdullahi Alaya went down the memory lane and recalled how helpful the patriarch and matriarch of the AbdulRazaq family – the late AGF AbdulRazaq( SAN) and his wife, Alhaja Raliat, were to anyone that came their way since early 60s .


He emphasised that service to the community and the people was the hallmark of the AbdulRazaq family, praising Governor AbdulRazaq for sustaining the family ‘s legacy of generosity and kindness.


The second lecturer, Sheikh AbdulKadir Alahanpe, hailed Governor AbdulRazaq for revolutionalising the basic education sector through the establishment of – smart schools and deployment of computers for teaching and learning in the public schools.

The fierce preacher noted that the Owo Arugbo scheme has made life a lot easier for the old people, adding that : ” This government transfers money to the old people as against the old practice of asking the elderly to line up to collect stipends.”


Sheikh Alahanpe also eulogised the governor for eradicating political thuggery to the applause of the attendees.


He added that the governor’s financial prudency has brought about unprecedented infrastructural development across the state.

” I therefore urge the political appointees and party ‘s leadership to emulate Governor AbdulRazaq’s simplicity, humility and prudence . Don’t betray the governor. Follow him to wherever he’s going as he has helped all of you and has taken the state to greater heights,” he said.


In his brief remarks, Alh Usman Bibire Ajape gave the governor a pat on the back for the monumental achievements his administration has recorded.


He, however, warned the newly affirmed APC leadership across the board to respect the governor’s decisions on matters concerning the 2027 general elections in the state.


The chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Ilorin, Hon. AbdulLateef Gidado Alakawa, echoed Ajape’s submission, reminding the APC leadership of the magnanimity of the governor that paved the way for their return for another term of office.


Alakawa warned the party executives against working at cross purposes with the governor as 2027 election approaches.


Dignitaries that attended the lecture include the senior adviser and counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, ex- non executive director of NNPCL, Dr Mohammed Ghali Alaaya, special adviser ( Special Duties), Alh AbdulRazaq Jiddah, special adviser( Media), Alh Bashir Adigun, senior special assistant ( Media), Chief Yinka Fafoluyi, APC stalwart, Alh Rahman Giwa, senior special assistant on Religion ( Islam), Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro and former commissioner for Information, Alh Raheem Adedoyin.


Others are a former presidential candidate, Alh Gani Galadima, coordinator, Kwara Central APC Elders Caucus, Alh Razaq Lawal, senior special assistant on Civic engagements, Humulkhair Alaye, Dr Yetunde Yusuf, chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Alh Umar Shero,Hon. Aliyu Mande, Mr Femi Whyte, a special assistant, Hon. Lateef Adebara, chairman, Ilorin West APC, Hon. Tejidini, Kwara APC women leader, Alhaja Falilat Mohammed, the Iyaloja of Kwara State, Alhaja Muibat Olumo and Hon. Bamidele Aluko .
