Arewa Discussion Group (ADG) Condemns Wave of Terror Across Northern Nigeria, Alleges Plot to Subvert 2027 Elections

The Arewa Discussion Group (ADG) has condemned a wave of heinous attacks and mass killings targeting civilians across northern Nigeria, alleging a plot to subvert the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by  ADG Spokesman Dr. Garba Abari  on behalf of  the Chairman Alhaji Mohammed Bello Misudan and other members of the group expressed shock and outrage at the recent spate of violence, extending condolences to families of victims and devastated communities.

The ADG specifically condemned the massacre of worshippers in Zamfara State, desecration of a mosque in Kebbi State, and bombings in Borno State, which have left scores dead and many more injured. The group noted escalating violence and loss of lives and property across multiple states, including Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, Kwara, and Niger.

The ADG believes desperate elements are deliberately trying to undermine the security situation ahead of the elections, allowing anti-democratic forces to capitalize on the chaos and subvert the people's will. The group called on the federal government to deploy enhanced security measures, ensure transparent investigations, and provide humanitarian assistance to survivors and displaced families.

The ADG urged the international community to monitor Nigeria's security and electoral situation and support efforts to restore peace and democratic integrity. Dr. Abari emphasized that the ADG stands in solidarity with the people of Nigeria, calling on Nigerians to remain vigilant and resist forces seeking to undermine democracy through violence and intimidation.
