 Egbewole mourns veteran journalist, Olanrewaju

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has mourned the demise of the Kwara State Correspondent of The Sun newspaper, Mr Layi Olanrewaju.


 Mr Olanrewaju, who was also a former Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), died today Friday after a brief illness.


In a statement issued by the University's Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, Prof. Egbewole expressed rude shock on the death of the veteran journalist.


The Vice Chancellor, who described Mr Olanrewaju as a diligent media professional and a good friend of the University, recalled that the late journalist used the privilege of his position to advance the interest of the University through positive report of events and personalities related to the University to the rest of the world.


Prof. Egbewole sympathised with the family, friends and colleagues of Mr Olanrewaju on his demise as he urged them to take solace in the fact that the deceased veteran journalist lived a life worthy of emulation.


The Vice Chancellor prayed God to rest the soul of the veteran journalist in absolute peace.
