 The Director General of  MINILS Mourns Late  Ilorin Chief Imam 

The Director-General/Chief Executive of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Comrade Issa Aremu mni, management and staff condole  Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Governor of Kwara State, and His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.)Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari,  Emir of Ilorin on the death of the  Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu. Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, a revered Islamic scholar died at the age of 75 Monday 19th January 2026. 


In  a  statement signed by Mrs Solomon Rachel, the spokesperson of, MINILS said the global outpour of messages of condolences showed that the death of the Chief Imam is a loss to Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and  Nigeria at large.


“The Director General expressed heartfelt to the immediate family of the deceased and the entire Ilorin Emirate on the death of the late 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin, urging them to take solace in the fact that the cleric lived a good life worthy of emulation.


Aremu observed that the late Shaykh Muhammad Bashir who became the Chief Imam of Ilorin in 1983 dedicated over four decades of his life to the service of Islam, spiritual guidance, moral uprightness and unwavering commitment to truth and justice. “He was blessed with a unique voice that pierced the soul and drew hearts closer to Allah, leaving a lasting spiritual impact on all who listened to him.”


“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and  reward his good deeds abundantly with Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.” the statement said.
