The Greater Kwara Foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation, launched a Renewed Hope Orphanage tour on Wednesday in support of President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in Kwara State. The foundation visited four orphanage centres across Ilorin metropolis, donating food items and cash.
Dr Oluwatoyin Alabi, one of the sponsors of the Greater Kwara Foundation, assured beneficiaries of sustained support, saying, "We are here on behalf of President Bola Tinubu to show that his heart is with you and all the less-privileged." The donation included 25 bags of 10kg rice, cartons of spaghetti, indimine, detergents, semovita, sweets, and cash.
The team visited Olufolake Safe Haven Orphanage, City of Refuge Gaa Akanbi, Children Reception Centre, and Takasco Life Care Initiative, spreading joy to the children and staff. Officials from the orphanage centres commended the initiative, describing it as timely and in line with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's social welfare agenda.
Mrs Idris Modinat, Director of Women Affairs, commended the foundation on behalf of the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Folashade Oluwakemi, saying the initiative aligns with the state's social welfare agenda. Jaiyeola Olawunmi, officer in charge at the Children Reception Centre, described the intervention as timely, given the rising welfare demands of the centre.
The donations were well-received by the orphanage centres, with officials thanking the foundation for the support. Mrs Mijisola Balogun of Takasco Life Care Initiative assured that the donation would go a long way in supporting the daily needs of the children. The Greater Kwara Foundation's Renewed Hope Orphanage tour brought smiles to the faces of the children and staff at the visited centres.
